§staticmap(10690,5,450,250)Hello, on June 3rd 2012, you’ll be organizing the Niagara Falls Women’s Half Marathon. Can you tell us where it is located?

The Niagara Falls Women’s Half Marathon is in Niagara Falls, Canada.

It will be the inaugural edition of the race. Why was it created in the first place?

This is the inaugural edition. We created this event because of the increasing popularity of the half marathon distance and the fact that 58% of half marathon finishers are women. Women love to share the achievement with other women from various backgrounds. The atmosphere at the Finish Line of women’s running and walking events is totally awesome and supportive.

What kind of route have you set up for the runners? How would you describe it?

The entire course is flat, and is right next to the famous Niagara River. It is the “wateriest” course in Canada. Runners and walkers will have water views all the way, and go past The Falls TWICE!

How many runners do you expect on Sunday morning? What type of runners do you plan to attract?

Our goal is to have 5,000 women with us on Sunday, June 3rd. We are trying to attract middle-of-the-pack and back-of-the-pack runners and walkers are most welcome. There is a four-hour course time limit.

Do you organize other races during the Weekend? If so, on what distances?

There are no other races during the weekend.

At that time of the year, what kind of weather can we expect?

It’s going to be a warm and sunny Sunday morning on June 3rd in Niagara Falls. We wish we could guarantee this, but early June is usually very beautiful in the Niagara area. The entire course is located in the beautiful Niagara Parks system, and their flowers and trees are world famous. The average noon hour temperature on June 3rd is 21 degrees Celsius.

Have you planned festivities around the marathon?

There will be lots of music at the Start/Finish area, and at frequent stages along the course. From light classical to jazz to country to rock ’n roll. Also, handsome firefighters handing out the finisher medals, and “manning” one of the water stations.

The race finished, what advice would you give a runner who has never been to Niagara Falls before? A good restaurant, a fancy sightseeing?

The entire Niagara Falls area is full of attractions and fun things to do. Tour a few wineries in Niagara-on-the-Lake, take a spectacular Helicopter ride over the gorge and the Canadian and American falls, get soaked on the Whirlpool Jet Boat ride and enjoy the views from the revolving Skylon Tower restaurant. Or, take a bicycle tour along the Niagara Parkway recreational trail. There are so many things to do.

In a single sentence, what would you tell the readers of ahotu Marathons to make them register for the Niagara Falls Women’s Half Marathon?

To summarize, women should register for the Niagara Falls Women’s Half Marathon because it is going to be a fabulous Sunday along the world famous Niagara River.
