Mississauga, ON – The Mississauga Marathon is proud to announce a grand total of $135,631.76 has been raised from all charity partners through our 2013 Scotiabank Charity Challenge. By partnering with Scotiabank, the Mississauga Marathon has seen an overwhelming increase in total donations tripling what was raised in 2012. “We are ecstatic with the fundraising efforts from our participants as well as the interest from so many local and national charities, especially for our 10th Anniversary. I know this is just the start of many more successful years to come” says Mississauga Marathon Scotiabank Charity Challenge Manager, Krystal Duz.
The twenty-three charity partners that benefitted from this program include: Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada, United Way of Peel Region, CameronHelps, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada – Mississauga Chapter, The Mississauga Food Bank, Peel Children’s Aid Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, SickKids Foundation, Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, Heart House Hospice Inc., Ronald McDonald House® Toronto, The Canadian Red Cross Society, MitoCanada Foundation, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Society of Canada, Toronto Military Family Resource Centre, Arthritis Research Foundation of Canada, GlobalMedic (in collaboration with the Ontario Water Agency), Reach for the Rainbow, Community Living Mississauga, Ovarian Cancer Canada, Lighthouse Festival Theatre and Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
The 2014 Mississauga Marathon Race Weekend is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 3rd and Sunday, May 4th and will continue to offer “A Run For Everyone”. Events include: Marathon, Petrillo Law Relay Challenge, Recharge with Milk Half Marathon, Valeant Pharmaceuticals 10K, 10K Student Relay, “The Hazel” 5K and SUBWAY® Restaurants 2K Fun Run/Walk.
