Great Manchester Run is the largest 10km race in Europe with about 40,000 participants each year.
Stephen Sambu wins the race in 27:30, with an 8 second lead over Stephen Mokoka. Bernard Lagat takes the third place with a time of 27:48.
In the women’s race, the victory goes to Betsy Saina in 31:49. 6 seconds later, Gemma Steel crossed the finish line to take the second place. Edna Kiplagat is third in 31:57.
Haile Gebrselassie used the race to announce his retirement from competitive racing at 42.
