Kenenisa  Bekele outpaced more then 36054 runners to win in 02:03:03. This is the second fastest marathon ever run. He only missed the world record by six seconds; Wilson Kipsang earned runner-up honors with a time of 02:03:13. The third place went to Evans Chebet with a time of 02:05:31

For the women, Aberu Kebede finished first in 02:20:45 . Birhane Dibaba earned runner-up honors with a time of 02:23:58. The third place went to Ruti Aga with a time of 02:24:41
