Hello, on October 24th 2010, you’ll be organizing the Wisconsin Dells Marathon. Can you tell us where it is located?

The Dells Marathon/Half Marathon will start and finish at The Wisconsin Dells Center, 2100 River Road, and the majority of the course takes place in the beautiful Adams County.

This will be the inaugural edition of the race. Why was it created in the first place?

Adrenaline Sports Management is a sporting event management company and we have always thought about putting together a Marathon and Half Marathon. All of the staff here has been to the Wisconsin Dells at one time or another, so we thought it would be a great place to put one together. Also, the Dells, known for its water parks, ducks, resorts, and shops, has never hosted a sporting event like this.

What kind of route have you set up for the runners? How would you describe it?

The route will be very scenic as the majority of it runs through the country roads surrounding the Wisconsin Dells. The course is very nature friendly and will give the runners some great views of a lake side, beautiful forestry, and some farmland. The course will be hilly at times, but there will be plenty of flat running.

How many runners do you expect on Sunday morning? What type of runners do you plan to attract?

We expect any where from 1,000 to 3,000 total runners for our first year event. We would like to attract all kinds of runners: Veteran runners, first time runners, etc. We do want to try and make this event a destination marathon, so we would like to attract families to come and visit the Dells all weekend.

Do you organize other races during the Week-End? If so, on what distances?

We are in the works to put together a 5K run on the Saturday before the Marathon/Half Marathon at Chula Vista Resort, but it has yet to be finalized.

At that time of the year, what kind of weather can we expect?

We can expect any kind of weather. The average for that area would be around 50 degrees. However, in the past 3 years they have hit 60.

Have you planned festivities around the marathon?

We are putting together a Pre-Event pasta party for all participants on Saturday Night at Chula Vista Resort. We also are holding a Pre-Race EXPO where all participants must pick up their Participant Packet. We will have a variety of Vendors there as well.

The marathon finished, what advice would you give a runner who has never been to Wisconsin Dells before? A good restaurant, a fancy sightseeing?

The Dells is a great area to “get away” from the norm. Like I said before, we really want to try and make this event a weekend of run for all participants and their families/friends. The Dells offers a variety of fun parks, go-karts, museums, restaurants, shops, etc.

In a single sentence, what would you tell the readers of ahotu Marathons to make them register for the Wisconsin Dells Marathon?

The Dells Marathon/Half Marathon will be the first ever Long Distance Running Event in the Wisconsin Dells. Make history with us.
