Spectator viewing will be allowed along Beach Blvd.  

 

EVENT DESCRIPTION: 

Battle on Buffett Beach is a 5k obstacle race in the sand in Pascagoula, MS.  There will be at least 20 obstacles including a vertical wall, hurdles, over/under trench, balance over water, rope climb, tire run, culvert crawl, monkey bars, sand hill challenges, and much more. There will be a youth obstacle course for kids ages 6-13 years and the main race course is available for youths ages 14-17 and adults ages 18 and up.  There is an elite race division, individual division and team division registration available.

Welcome Reception on Friday, November 22, 2019 (need to RSVP) T-Shirt** Participation Medal Mesh Backpack Refreshments on the day of the race

**We will order extra t-shirts but we are only guaranteeing you will get a shirt if you register by Oct. 1, 2019.  

Race Organizers will send emails to race participants starting October 1, 2019 with more information regarding general information, hotels, training tips, shuttle service, what to wear and bring, and more. 

  HEROES CHALLENGE TEAMS:

Are you ready for a challenge? Battle on Buffett Beach will be hosting it's very first HEROES CHALLENGE obstacle course after the Battle on Saturday, November 23rd at 12:00 PM.*

*The Battle Committee does not recommend competing in the Battle on Buffett Beach AND the Heroes Challenge.  You may sign up for both, if you choose. Ready to sign up click here.

EVENT DESCRIPTION:

This course will have various obstacles including some that will simulate what a first responders and military might go through.  Teams will need to stick together and finish each obstacle as a team before moving forward.  For more information click on the Heroes Challenge Teams button up above.

AWARDS:

The winning team will receive the Heroes Challenge Trophy: THE GLORY and bragging rights for a full year!  THE GLORY will be handed down each year to the next winning team.

All competitors will receive a finishers medal, t-shirt, goody bag, and refreshments on the day of the race.

  WAVES:

Elite Wave:

8:45 AM Elite registrants ONLY This wave will BEGIN at the intersection of Beach Blvd. & City Park St.

Open Waves: 

9:20 AM - 9:40 AM - 10:00 AM Individuals and teams can register in any heat throughout the day Open Wave participants will take shuttles from the intersection of Beach Blvd. & Oliver St. to the Race Start at 

Heroes Challenge Wave:

12:00 Noon Only Teams must have 5 team members finish to qualify for awards. No Age Divisions Race will begin and end at the Race Finish

Kids Waves

11:00 AM - 11:20 AM - 11:40 AM Determined by Age Groups 11:00 AM: Ages 6-8 11:20 AM: Ages 9-11 11:40 AM: Ages 12-13 This wave will begin and end at the Race Finish site

 

REGISTRATION FEES (Early & Late Fees & Dates):   Kids competition for ages 6-13 years: Aug. 14 - Sept. 30: $20 Oct. 1 - Nov. 15: $30 Nov. 16 - Nov. 22: $40 Race Day: $50 Adults competition for ages 14 and up (no discount for groups): Aug. 14 - Sept. 30: $40 Oct. 1 - Nov. 15: $50 Nov. 16 - Nov. 22: $60 Race Day: $70

RACE DAY INFORMATION:

Racers should arrive at Beach Park on Saturday a minimum of ONE HOUR ahead of their heat to Check-In.

Elite Racers will begin at the Check-In site at Beach Park at the intersection of Beach Blvd. & City Park St. Open Waves will catch the shuttle from the intersection of Beach Blvd. & Oliver St. to the Race Start.   Kids Waves will  begin and end at the Race Finish at the Beach Park Pier at the intersection of Beach Blvd. & City Park St.

The Finish Line will be on the beach at the Beach Park Pier. 

 

AGE GROUPS: Elite: Male and Female Ages 14-29, 30-49, and 50+. Teams: All teams of 5 compete against other teams.  No age division. Individual: Male and Female Ages 14-17, 18-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+. Kids: Male and Female Ages 6-8, 9-11, and 12-13

RULES OF THE COURSE:

Elite racers will be required to complete ALL of the obstacles to be considered for an award.  The only burpee's that will be allowed are at the burpee station near the end of the race.  There will be a chute marked by shark fins at the sand dunes and all racers must enter the obstacles between the shark fins. Any avoidance of obstacles will result in a DNF (did not finish).

Open racers will be required to make a valid attempt at all obstacles.  If an attempt is made but the obstacle is not successfully completed, a designated set of burpees will be allowed for a racer to be considered for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in their category.  There will be a chute marked by shark fins at the sand dunes and all racers must enter the obstacles between the shark fins. Any avoidance of obstacles will result in a DNF (did not finish), meaning the racer cannot be considered for an award.
