Glow for Hope

Grab your running (or walking) shoes and bright clothes and join HopeTree Family Services, in partnership with City of Salem Parks & Recreation, on Friday, May 12 for a great night of fun at the Glow For Hope 5K Run & 2K Fun Walk!

This is a timed 5K night run and 2K fun walk to raise awareness and support for HopeTree. This family-friendly event will feature music, food, face painting, a fun photo booth, and a bouncy house for the kids.

The highlight of the evening will be the Glow Party. Don't miss it!

FAQs
What is the cancellation policy?

This is a rain or shine event. We will cancel, however, if there is lightning in the area. If the event is canceled, no refunds will be issued to runners, but you can either receive free registration for the 2018 Glow for Hope or consider your $25 registration fee a donation to HopeTree Family Services.

Can I bring a stroller?

Yes, strollers are welcome!

Can I bring my pet?

We allow service animals only for this event.

Where should I park?

Limited parking is available in the parking lot behind HopeTree Academy. Please note that if you park in these spaces, you will not be allowed to exit until the last runner has finished the course.

When the parking lot is full, parking is available on the baseball fields directly off Red Ln. Parking attendants will be available to guide you to the best parking space available. Please note that this area can get quite dark when the sun sets, so we recommend you bring a flashlight to help you return safely to your vehicle. We will have portable lights in this area, but we cannot guarantee it will light the entire path to your vehicle, depending on which space you choose to park in.

I don't want to walk or run the course. Can I still come to the event?

Yes! The Glow Party starts as soon as the walkers/runners begin the course, and food is available at this time, too. We would love for you to come to the event with your family and friends and enjoy the activities and delicious food.

What kind of food will you have?

Although the exact menu has not yet been determined, we guarnatee there will be plenty of food for all participants. Last year, we served BBQ sandwiches, coleslaw, fruit, bagels, and dessert! We always have plenty of water, lemonade, and gatorade, too.

Can I bring my own food?

Yes, you can bring your own food if you would like to. Some people choose to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy with their family on our lawn.

Why do I have to pay an additional processing fee when registering online?

As a non-profit organization, this event is one of our largest fundraisers to help us raise money to support our ministries and programs. We try to keep our costs as low as possible so that every dollar we make can go directly towards those in our care. We strive to provide a wonderful event and hope you find the fee minimal. If you would like to register without paying the fee, you can send a check to HopeTree Family Services for your registration fee only. Please indicate on the check that it is for a Glow for Hope registration. We will also need your phone number so that we can collect the information necessary for us to register you manually.

Are there any age restrictions for runners?

No. All ages are welcome to run the 5K course. It is a challenging course, however, so we recommend that only runners who are physically able to complete it register.

Packet Pick-Up

Walkers and runners can pick up your race packets at HopeTree Family Services on Friday, May 5 from 4pm - 7:30pm.

Prizes & Awards

Prizes will be awarded to the walker and runner who raise the most money.

We will also award medals for the:

Top three overall male and female finishers Top three male and female finishers in the following age groups: 14 and under      15-19      20-24      25-29      30-34     35-39      40-44     45-49      50-54      55-59      60-64     65-69      70+

Winners have until May 25 to redeem their award.

Fundraising pages will remain active after the event, but donations received after the event will not count towards the contest. Offline participants are also eligible to receive prizes.
