Miles for Mito

MIles for Mito race is the second annual race in the state of Arkansas with the focus being raising awareness and support for Mitochondrial Disease. Mitochondrial diseases range from presenting in cases of such as Autism and Alzheimer's Disease as well as more significant cases such as Leigh's Syndrome and MELAS both of which affect one family in the state of Arkansas. The mitochondria which is the energy house of the body are injured and/or destroyed which deplete the vital organs and their function within the body. The race is a 5k race with a 1-mile walk option in downtown Conway, Arkansas beginning at Simon Park home of the Kris Allen Stage. The course will be engergized with volunteers and supporters to this cause keeping the runner motivated throughout.
