Moscow Marathon

Ran the marathon on the 23rd of September 2018. My favourite marathon to date. The numbers running the marathon were small, which I was suprised about, being from Ireland the Dublin marathon always sells out. From the moment I got to Moscow it was a great experience, the people were helpful, the organisation of the marathon was superb. It all started and finished at the Luzniki stadium outside the city. This is where you also go to the marathon expo and it was very well organised there, really friendly people at the expo and the race pack was very nice. The route of the marathon was very flat, there was one or two uphill parts, but flat mostly and otherwise quick, a lot of downhill parts to the city route also which made it fast and easy to speed up at times. The route takes from the Luzniki, past the modern business buildings in Moscow, all along the Moscva river and over the bridge at one point where you can see the Kremlin on one side and eventually you loop around to pass under the near the red bricked Kremlin walls Overall it is a fantastic marathon, and I hope it grows from strength to strength with the numbers running it in the future

Not a difficult course to run and flat pretty easy to manage for all runners
