About the event

The Patrons of the Hearts 5K/10K benefits children from underprivileged parts of the world and bringing them to Wolfson's for lifesaving cardiac procedures.  Patrons of the Hearts is a partnership between the University of Florida Pediatric Cardiovascular Center at Jacksonville, Wolfson Children's Hospital, and the community of Jacksonville. Together we are able to provide live saving cardiovascular treatment to ten children per year...one heart at a time.

Founded in 2005, Patrons of the Hearts is a partnership between the University of Florida Pediatric Cardiovascular Center at Jacksonville, Wolfson Children’s Hospital and the Jacksonville community. University of Florida and Wolfson Children's donate the cost of inpatient hospitalization and physician services for heart repair, while Patrons of the Hearts provides $5000 to help cover the costs of supplies, housing and incidentals for each child.

We provide the best medical care available for the treatment of heart disease to children born in remote or underdeveloped parts of the world. Our goal is to raise $2,000,000 for the endowment funds over the next three to five years to continue providing high quality pediatric cardiac care to these children in perpetuity.

Wolfson Children's Hospital, the pediatric hospital of Baptist Health, provides care for all local children, regardless of their ability to pay. Patrons of the Hearts is a program that functions under the umbrella of the Baptist Health Foundation and benefits international children that live in corners of the world with no access to the specialized care they require. Patrons of the Hearts works with other charitable national and international organizations, whose main objective is to connect children in need of medical expertise-not found in their

To date Patrons of the Hearts has provided highly specialized cardiovascular surgery to 95 children from around the world since 2006.
