Course highlights

The marathon - 42.2 KM Start and finish in the city centre The marathon distance consists of the two half marathons 3-Sjøersløpet and Stavanger Half Marathon. There is about 300 meters of ascent along the way. The race is recommended to anyone who wants to experience the beautiful natural areas Stavanger has to offer. About half the race is on asphalt, the rest on very runnable gravel. You run around the 3 lakes, and along both Hafrsfjord and Gandsfjorden. Half marathon - 21 KM The course takes you up to Mosvatnet. Here you run about a round before you pass the mighty “Sverd i fjell” along Hafrsfjord. Then the trip starts down to the beautiful cycle path along the Gandsfjorden. In total, the trail has about 150 meters of climbing, many of which come at the start. So don’t run stiff here. 73% of the track is on asphalt, the rest on gravel. 5 km Starts next to Mariero station, and is the last 5 km of the marathon course. The starting point is as close to the Gandsfjorden as you can get. The race itself first takes you along the fjord, before you reach Hillevåg and the beautiful Hillevågsvatnet. Towards the end, you get a good hill up, before there is a similar downhill to the center and Byparken.

The route was quite hilly, but beautiful. Loved every part of it. During the run you can choose between water or sport drink, you also get a banana. At the finish: water, some Nice pasta, cake and banana. Volunteers were very friendly and cheerfully. Not crowded at all, which Is very much appreciated. At the end you enter a park where the route was not clearly indicated and People were just walking about and this was a bit annoying...but that was the only downside of the while race...as said: I really enjoyed it and had a very good experience

This is a really nice run with a scenic and beautiful route. Since I live in the area, it has become one of my favorite half. It is well organized and easy to get to, in the midle of Stavanger City center If the weather is good, the race is great. This being at the south-west part of Norway, you never know what weather will be like. Rain and wind is pretty normal, but August is usually warm enough Don't forget to do you sight seeing after the race, Stavanger being the gate-way to the Norwegian fjords. The Pulpit Rock and Kjerag are not to fare away.
