Last year, a new race emerged as one of the elite running events in the mid-Atlantic region. With a flat, fast, USTAF certified 1/2 marathon course that winds along the beautiful waterfront communities of St. Michaels, this event attracted runners from all over the US in its opening year.
Set a new PR or qualify for other marathons on St. Michaels FLAT and FAST USATF CERTIFIED half marathon course. You have to experience for yourself one of the flattest certified half marathon in the mid-Atlantic region. With an elevation that averages between 8 and 10 feet (with its’ highest peak at 18 feet) and only a few turns to negotiate, you are certain to enjoy the scenic views and serene setting while cruising along our course.
You’ll start out at the St. Michaels school campus and head right down the center of historic and charming main street. After leaving town, the course traverses around a beautiful golf course community on gently winding roads. The half heads down Tilghman Island Road lined with farms and wooded lots before heading back to St. Michaels. Once in St. Michaels you take a few of the only turns on the route to the rails to trails paved path where the 13.1 miles finishes on the scenic nature path. The rails to trails nature path crosses a foot bridge which boasts the steepest elevation gain on the entire route (a daunting 3’ of gain over a 48’ span).
This year’s event has been enhanced to provide runners with an even greater shot at achieving a PR and, of course, all runners are guaranteed a wonderful race experience and a dynamic post-race expo in one of the most exclusive destinations along the Chesapeake Bay. Some of the highlights for this year’s race include: more water stations, earlier, cooler start times; new, scenic and distinct 10k course, awesome runner bags, custom medal (for all 1/2 marathon runners) and beer after you finish!
