Zombies Like Brains 8k and Zombie Walk for DIPG Awareness

Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) is a big fancy word for a brain stem tumor. This is an inoperable tumor that can easily go undetected.  To help  create the awareness, we are celebrating in conjunction with the Zombies for an 8k like no other!

Dress as your favorite zombie or just bring your brain to run this spooky run along the northwest Knox greenway starting and finishing at Northwest Middle School on Walpine Lane.

The festivities begin September 17th at 4pm for the One Mile Zombie RACE.  This will be a one mile trial race to see what you got going up against the zombies! Then at 4:30pm the 8k will begin for a race along the roads and greenway system through Ball Camp and then Victor Ashe Park. No it's not Halloween, but being unaware of the signs and symptoms of DIPG can be scary! Join us for this Fall celebration of awareness and fun!

Schedule of events:

2:30pm Packet Pickup on site

3:45pm Zombie judging

4pm Time Trial Mile

4:30pm Zombie 8k Starts

6pm Awards / Results / Post Race noshing on brains

Prizes will be awarded for Top 3 overall male and female, Top Masters Male and Female (1 deep), Top 3 Age Groups 10 and Under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+

 For the one mile RACE we will do top male and female 18 and under / 19 - 39 / 40-59 / 60+

The Living Dead Challenge!  Do you have what it takes to beat the living dead? Find out with the one mile and 8k combo! Each participant will receive a special bonus from Frank, our medal mascot and a plaque to top male and female over all combo with both scores.  

We will also have a top team award for the BIGGEST TEAM and an award for the BEST DRESSED ZOMBIE!
