Must thanks the organizers for a well run event....at least on most parts. Getting to the pick up for the race pack was ok as getting a cab to the Likas Stadium was easy but had a hard time getting a cab back to town. They arranged pick service at certain hotels for the FREE pasta party (though I didn't attend) and also for race day an hour before flag off. All went quite smoothly. Flagged off at 4AM for a nice cool start. There were maybe 300+ runners for the full marathon. Started in the stadium round the track for about 200m then exited and 1km+ at the round about, turn right on the coastal road headed towards 1 Borneo (shopping mall). Cool breeze running along the coastal road till the turn point at 12.5km then U-turned headed back the way we came. Route along this 12.5km was gentle inclines and declines. Pass the roundabout to the stadium we exited but continued straight on into the city centre. Run through the centre on the back road along the sea front through crowded markets and shops. You see people going about their marketing on a Sunday but kudos to the traffic police for keeping the road clear for the runners. The run through the city centre was flat all the way to Sutera Harbour. From the entrance to the Sutera Harbour road, ran about 2.5km in and U-turned and ran back ot to the main road. Turned right towards the Tanjung Aru and ran about 1.5km on a slight incline, U-turned and from there on, straight all the way back to the stadium passing the Sutera Harbaour, straight through to the city centre's busy market place and along the coastal road back to the stadium and when you enter the stadium, another 200m round the track to the finish line. Overall, was not a difficult run. Lots of water stations with water and 100plus and bananas. Traffic control was very good. Route markers was not clear but I had my watch that mark my distance. Also, lack of first-aid stations. At the end, lack of water at the finish line. Only when I went outside, then saw that there was a little 'Milo' van dispensing cold milo. Again, transport back to the city centre was none existence for foreigners. After waiting a while for a suppose shuttle bus back to hotels, with no updates if there was one coming, managed to catch a cab back to town. The whole run was enjoyable and relatively well organized. Minor flaws but a great attempt by the organizers. Well done. Will be back next year if time permits.

First edition of the race, really enjoyed it despite the 0430 start! Nice to start in the dark and see dawn, though heated up pretty quick - lots of water and 100+ stations, only gripe was the lack of water at the finish. Recommended if you fancy lots of heat and humidity!
