Ethiopia’s Lelisa Desisa won the race in 02:09:17. The runner new the course well since he had already won the race in 2013. Last year, he couldn’t finish. The second place went to his fellow countryman Yemane Adhane Tsegay (02:09:48) and the third to Wilson Chebet from Kenya (02:10:22).
Last years winner Meb Keflezighi took the 8th place.
In the women’s race, Caroline Rotich sprinted to victory, finishing the race in 02:24:55. Ethiopian Mare Dibiba who (on paper) was the fastest in the field with a PB of 2:19:52, took the second place in 02:24:59.
The third place went to Buzunesh Deba in 02:25:09.
