5K with Fido

Description: Join us for our first annual “5K with Fido”! There will be food, vendors, music, and adoptable dogs! You can run the race by yourself or bring along your furry friend! The purpose of this event is to raise money for G.R.I.F.F.I.N. K-9 Rescue, a non-profit dog rescue in Monroe, NC. Their goal is to rescue dogs from high kill shelters and provide them with the necessary training and vet care needed to become adoptable. This race will honor a Griffin K-9 Alumni, Radar. Radar was a Rottweiler that came to us in the Fall of 2017. He was shot in the leg and needed immediate amputation. Radar became fearful of people and would lunge out and bark at people because of the traumatic event. We put him through a 6 week board and train program to get him through his fears. Radar graduated from training and found his forever family! His family loved him and cherished him dearly for 3 months before he passed away from a sudden brain aneurysm. Radar made a miraculous transition in such a short amount of time. He brought so much joy to us and his family while he was on this Earth. We want to use this race to help fund more dogs like Radar that need a little extra care or a little extra training. Join us for a fun day with your dog!
