About the event
Everyone should be able to exercise and run without fear of being harmed or losing their life. Join us in running 2.23 miles on the 23rd to show support for the family of Ahmaud Arbery. On February 23, the 25-year-old black man was running near Brunswick, Georgia, when a father and son—both armed—chased Arbery down and shot him, thinking he looked like a suspect in a string of break-ins, according to a Glynn County Police report. Our friend Jody wrties,
Will you join me?
Will you walk, jog, run for justice?
Will you run for change?
Will you run for all the mommas out there scared to let their sons go out?
Will you run to make a difference?
Will you run because Ahmaud Arbery no longer can?
The thought that this could possibly happen to my son.... I’m in tears. I am ANGERED by this. I am SCARED. I’m in MOURNING for what his family is going through.
One day Zinabu is gonna go for a run....middle of the day....by hImself....and I’m gonna be scared to death.
How is this still happening!? This is not okay. it never has been. It never will be. We need to do better.
