Albany Kiwanis Club Pancake Run

We're Back!

For the past six years, the Albany Kiwanis Club has hosted the annual Pancake Run.  Last year, because of concerns caused by the Corona Virus pandemic, we hosted the race virtually, but this year, we are back to hosting it as an in-person event. 

Come run with us on October 16.  The race starts and ends by the shores of Lake Loretta.  The course is flat and fast.  It runs through the streets of the beautiful Lake Park neighborhood. 

After the race, enjoy a pancake breakfast.  Runners get the breakfast included in the registration fee.  Non-runners can still enjoy pancakes at $8 per plate.   Having breakfast after the race makes The Pancake Run a true family event that runners can enjoy with all family members, whether everyone runs or not. 

All funds raised for this race will go to the Albany-Dougherty County Kiwanis Club to serve the children of Southwest Georgia.  October 1, 2021 will be an exciting day because the Albany Kiwanis Club will merge with the Dougherty Kiwanis Club to form one larger club.  The two clubs will combine their resources to make an even bigger impact on the children of Albany, Dougherty County, The state of Georgia, The United States, and around the world.  Your participation in this year's event will allow this newly combined entity to get off to a great start.

The races will have two registration options.  For any runner who wants a race T shirt, the entry fee will be $30 ($25 for the fun run).  Runners who don't want a shirt can enter for a fee of only $15 (5K) or $10 (Fun Run).  Any runner who wants a T shirt should register by October 11 to guarantee receiving a shirt. 

**To simplify the process, runners who want a T shirt will pay separately for the race and the shirt during the registration process.

There will be awards for the 5K race.  The awards will be Overall Male and Female & Masters Male and Female.  The age groups will run 10 & Under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-24, and in 5-year increments all the way up to 75+.

This year's race will be a part of the Run and See Georgia Grand Prix, Clover Glove Race Series, and the Black Bag Race Series.  For runners who can not travel to Albany but who still want to earn race series points, this year's race will feature a virtual option.  Virtual runners will not be eligible for race day awards, but runners who stay at home and want to submit their 5K times, the window for submission will be Thursday, October 14 at 6:00 am to Sunday, October 17 at 8:00 pm.  Simply submit your time to [email protected].  Picture documentation preferred, but I will accept times without it.

A good, vigorous run followed by a stack of pancakes is the perfect way to start off any morning, especially when doing so has a philanthropic feel to it.  Good luck, and let's have a lot of fun!
