Please join us for the 8th annual Back To School Classic 5K benefiting the Carol Barnes Volner Scholarship Fund. Ms. Barnes, as she was affectionately known to her middle-school students, consistently reminded her students to "walk with a purpose." Will you walk, stroll, jog, or run with us for a purpose?

Race Venue

Where will be the race be held?  McNabb Middle School at 3570 Indian Mound Drive, Mount Sterling, KY 40353 What time does the race start?  The 5K race start time is 8:00 am. The 1 Mile Walk starts at 9:00 am. What time should I arrive?  Please arrive at least one hour before the 5K race start time. Where will I park?  Parking is available in the school parking lots.

Follow signs for I-64 West At exit 113, take ramp right for US-60 toward Mt. Sterling Turn left onto US-60/Midland Trail (1.6 miles) Turn left onto SR-686/Indian Mound Drive (2.1 miles) Arrive at 3570 Indian Mound Drive

Race Registration

When does online registration close?  Online registration will close on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at midnight. Can I register on race day?  Yes. Race day registration is available from 6:30 am to 7:30 am for $30. What do I get for my registration fee?  The first 200 registrants will receive a race t-shirt with their race packet. Is there a benefitting charity?  Yes, race proceeds benefit the Carol Barnes Volner Scholarship Fund. Can I get a refund of my registration fee? Sorry, registration fees are for the benefit of the charity and are non-refundable.

 

Race Participation

When can I get my race t-shirt and race number?  On race day starting at 6:30 am at the race site. Can I view a course map?  Well...., we're working on a course map. Stay tuned... Is the course totally on paved surfaces?  Yes. Is the course suitable for strollers?  Yes. Pushing a stroller on this course is possible. Please start in the back of the race pack. Can I walk the 5K race?  Yes! Walkers are welcome.  Please start in the back of the race pack. Can I bring my dog?  Yes! Dogs on a fixed length leash are welcome on the course. No retractractable leashes please as they create a trip hazard.  Please start in the back of the race pack.

 

Race Timing/Awards/Prizes/Results

Will the race be timed?  Yes! The race will be timed by 3 Way Racing. Will awards be presented after the race?  Yes! Awards for the top male and female finishers and the top male and female in the following age groups will be presented as soon as possible after the race. Overall awards will be based on "gun time" and age group awards will be based on "chip time". Age groups are: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over. Will there be a prize drawing?  Yes! Door prizes will be given out during the post-race ceremony. Can I find my finish time online?  Yes! Please click here to view the race results.
