Badge of Honor Ruthkosky Wine Run, Cheers to Life 5k 1k Run/Walk

 The 2nd Annual Badge of Honor, Ruthkosky's Wine Run. Cheers to Life- Run/Walk 5k/1k  for the Mental & Physical Health of NEPA Police Officers & Firefighters will honor those who lost the fight to mental illness while supporting those that "Serve and Save" in our community.

 Proceeds raised from this event will be distributed among LRJ Foundation's programs to educate the community and schools on mental health education, and two distinguished civil service groups; Police officers and Firefighters in Northeastern Pennsylvania.  LRJ Foundation will offer assistance for the best Mental & Physical Health needs for these men and women upon their request.

     Derek Ruthkosky, the race's namesake, felt at home in the Taylor Borough Fire & Rescue fire hall, where his fellow volunteer firefighters considered him a brother.  He was known amongst his brethren there as a friend to everyone who's smile was contagious to all.  

     The hope to this event is that it will bring into light that asking for help, talking and sharing one's problems is not something to be afraid of and to encourage others to take the potentially lifesaving step of reaching out for help.

Once participants cross the finish line they will "earn " a complimentary cup of wine .. then they will be able to visit with wine tasting and food vendors and enjoy live music located within the park.

Details:Preregistration ends Sat September 9, 2017 at 11:59 pm. Race day registration available 3:00 pm-3:45 pm

 

Date and Location: September 16, 2017  4:00 p.m. at McDade Park in Scranton, PA.

Day of Registration/Packet-Pickup: 3:00 - 3:45 p.m.

Race Start: 

5k at 4:00 pm 1k to follow completion of 5k approx. 5:00 pm

Awards: Top Male and Female runners will receive awards along with the top 3 Male and Female runners in each of the following age groups for the 5k:

10 & Under 11-19 20-29 30-39 40-49 50-59 60-69 70 & Over

In the Kid's 1k the top 2 kids will receive an award and all will receive a participation ribbon.
