About the event
My name is Amelia Cameron and I am a Sophomore at Village Academy High School. I am doing this race as a community service project. This school project is called a Capstone and we choose a service based topic that revolves around something we love. I am a runner - currently, in Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track - and I have volunteered at humane societies while being an all-around animal lover. Putting two of my passions together, running and helping animals, has made me super excited to put on this event.
The Bark in the Park 5k is a race dedicated to helping save the lives of shelter animals in need of loving homes. The race will give all of the proceeds and donations to the Union and Delaware County Humane Societies. This race will begin at Murphy Park in Powell, OH at 8:00 am and will go through neighborhood streets. The top three male and female finishers by gun time will receive medals. Also, Bark in the Park is dog-friendly, so please bring your four-legged friends; however, they must be other dog and people friendly as well as updated on their vaccinations. All participants will receive race swag and if you bring a friendly dog, please see the check-in table regarding picking up their own race swag before the race begins. The Bark in the Park 5k is striving towards raising awareness and donations for these abused and neglected animals. So, please join us on June 16th, 2019 to help these animals in desperate need of loving homes, by racing for and donating to the cause.
