The Belmont Plateau Hall of Fame Classic               DUE TO THE CORONA VIRUS HEALTH ALERT AND MAYOR KENNEY (PHILA) NOT ALLOWING EVENTS IN CITY PARKS UNTIL FEB/2021,  THE HOF RACE AND HOF INDUCTION CEREMONY WILL BE POSTPONED UNTIL 2021.  DATE/TIME TBD AT LATER DATE. ANY RUNNERS WHO HAVE PRE REGISTERED WILL RECEIVE CREDIT FOR THE 2021 RACE.

is celebrating it’s 6th year and will be held on Saturday, August 29 with a youth (6-12 yrs old) cross country mile at 8:45 am followed by the 5,000 cross country race at 9am.  This race is the opening race of the cross country season at Belmont Plateau , America’s premier venue for cross country racing since 1963. Both races are run on the challenging course with a good mix of grass, gravel trails, and hills.  The race is open to all age groups and teams.  The event is organized by the Belmont Plateau Cross Country Hall of Fame with the help of the City of Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Dept. and the Fairmount Park Conservancy.  The overall mission of the Hall of Fame is to support and promote the sport of Cross Country/Distance running in the City of Philadelphia by selecting an annual nomination of past distance running champions to the HOF We also sponsor awards for XC Champs for Phila Public and Catholic League, helping in the annual maintenance of the XC trails at Belmont Plateau, and raising funds to build a “Walk of Fame” at the park.  The race will be followed by a nomination ceremony of the " 2020 Class to the HOF" and a breakfast for runners.   Whe encourage runners to form teams. Teams are in two categories- all male or all female teams.  Go to team registration to register teams.  Belmont Plateau Park is a city park- so make sure no valuables are left in the car.  We will have a check in of bags and valuables at registration area.

Race day registration starts at 7:30 am at Belmont Plateau Park.   1 Mile Youth Cross Country Mile ($12 pre up to Friday/Aug 28. /$15 on race day), 5,000 Meter XC ($25 pre up to Friday, Aug 28  /$30 on race day). Online registration closes on Fri (Aug 28) at 12 noon.  CASH AWARDS: Top 3 men and top 3 women ($100, $75, $50) and 10 year age group awards and top 3 MF runners in the youth XC Mile will receive awards.   TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP-  There will be team competition and awards to top 3 Men and top 3 Women teams (Unlimited number on team with the top 3 scoring/cross country scoring.   The Hall of Fame Classic will also serve as the 2020 USATF Mid-Atlantic Master (Over 40 years old) Cross Country Championship.  Special awards/separate scoring for USATF teams  and individuals with $50 to the top overall M and F Mid Atlantic Master runner.  For more details on the Mid Atlantic XC Champs , go to www.mausatf.org.   Race Volunteers supplied by Temple University and Jefferson University Cross Country Teams.
