Ben's Run

The 7th Annual Ben's Run in memory of Ben Goldfogle will be held on April 1, 2017.  The race will raise money to benefit the oncology and bone marrow units at Children’s National in Washington, D.C.  In six years, Ben's Run has donated over $430,000 to Children's National to help fund ground-breaking clinical research into the treatment of children like Ben, whose leukemia returns even after a stem cell transplant.  Join us in the fight against childhood cancer!

If you'd like to help Ben's Run raise even more money to support the critical research being done at Children's National into new treatments for childhood leukemia , please consider becoming a Ben's Run fundraiser! It's easy to create an individual or team page during registration that you can send to friends and family to have them sponsor you to raise money for Ben's Run.  Last year, our runners raised $15,000 for Ben's Run through online fundraising - this year we'd like to raise even more!  Every dollar raised goes directly to Children's National to support the ground-breaking research being done by Dr. Kristen Williams and her team.  To read more about what Dr. Williams is doing, read our 2016 Impact Report.

There is a 5K run, 5 Mile run, and a 1 mile fun run/walk.  Children under 5 are free and do not need to register.  Kid-friendly, dog-friendly dogs are permitted on the 5K and 1 Mile courses only for an additional $5.  Strollers are permitted on the 5K and 1 Mile courses.

This event is rain or shine and there are no refunds.  

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
For the 5 Miler, must be 14 or older on the day of the race and able to run the course in a hour or less (12 minute per mile pace).  There are no age limits for the 5K or the 1 Mile and you don't need to bring an ID to the event. Just bring your ticket.  Children under 5 are free and do not need to register.

Are there prizes for the top finishers?
There are prizes for the 5 Mile (top male and female) and 5K (top male & female by age group).  Prizes are awarded for the top 5K finishers in the following age categories: 10 & Under; 11-13; 14-18; 19-34; 35-49; 50-64; 65 & Up.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Parking is extremely limited, so please carpool or walk where possible. For directions and parking information, go to http://www.bensrun.org/directions.html.

Is my registration refundable or transferrable?
There are no refunds, but you can transfer your registration to someone else up to two weeks before race day. If you need to transfer your registration, please make sure that you sign into RunSignUp at least two weeks before the race and change the attendee information so that we have the right runner's name on race day! After March 18, 2017, we cannot transfer registrations.
