About the event
The 6th Annual Brad Detling Memorial Ridge Runner Classic (BDMRRC) 5K Walk/Run will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016. The race will begin at Barnesville High School. The route includes Shamrock Drive and Grange Road. The race will end at Barnesville Middle School. There will be two classifications of walkers. Those who choose "Competitive" will complete the 5K race course and will be eligible to win awards. Those who prefer not to complete the 5K walk may walk on the high school track.
Brad Detling was a 1999 Barnesville High School graduate and 2005 Ohio State University alumna who lost a brave battle with cancer in 2008. The proceeds collected from the race go towards a scholarship, in Brad’s memory, awarded to one or more deserving Barnesville High School senior(s) planning to continue their education at the collegiate level. A portion of the proceeds are also donated to cancer research.
