Join the Society of Women Engineers for the Brain & Brawn 5k and 5k Challenge!
You have the choice of running just a 5k or sign up for our 5k Challenge to put your brain and your legs to the test! Medals will be awarded to the top finishers and top in age groups for the 5k and 5k Challenge. All ages welcome, children 6 and under register for free! Strollers are also welcome, just remember that part of the race is on a dirt trail. Registration fees for the 5k Challenge are waived for families of 3 or more (Please register at the same time to receive discount)!
Each participant in the 5k Challenge will run at the same time as the 5k and must complete 6 Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related activities along the course. Activity stations are tailored for kids and adults of all ages! Don’t forget, registration fees will be waived when you register a family of 3 or more!
Can’t run but still want to participate in the event? Please sign up here or email the race director to volunteer to help out the day of the race! Volunteers will receive a discount code for their immediate family to register for the race.
There will also be a raffle drawing, which will be held during the awards ceremony. You do not have to be present to win and is not limited to race participants. Raffle tickets are $5 each or $20 for five, and will be available for purchase with your registration, at packet pickup, on race day, or through the race coordinator. Raffle prizes will be raffled off as separate packages. Please check back here, our website, or facebook page often as we add items to our raffle prizes!

Parking is available at the Memorial Health Buildings at the intersection of HWY 80 and Bryan Woods Rd (1001 Memorial Ln). From the parking lot, follow the path south along Bryan Woods Rd and into the woods. The parking lot is approximately 0.25 miles from the 5k start. There will be signs at the parking lot and along the path to direct you to the start line. We will also have lots of signs directing you along the 5k route.

Yes! The race is open to men, women, children, and adults! We would love to encourage family participation in the 5k Challenge (see below), so we have waived the registration fee of $2.50/person for families of three or more registering at the same time for the 5k Challenge.
The 5k Challenge is held at the same time as the 5k. Participants must complete 6 STEM activity stations along the route! All activities are tailored for kids and adults of all ages to enjoy.
