Break The Fever 5k Run/Walk and Fun Run

Thank you for taking the time to consider participating in the Break the Fever 5k Run/Walk and Fun Run. All proceeds raised will go towards funding the medical care of Tatum Reyne Renee Holly. Tatum suffers from a rare autoimmune disease that causes fevers that reach 106-107 degrees and last for several days. She has suffered from these fevers since she was 3 months old, with fevers occurring every 3 months. Tatum was diagnosed in June 2015 with Muckle-Wells syndrome, a form of Cryopyrin Associated Periodic Syndrome (CAPS), at the young age of 4. Her body produces an excessive amount of Cryopyrin protein that causes systemic inflammation, damaging her heart, kidneys, and hearing.
In an attempt to prolong the duration between fevers she took a daily injection from August-December 2015. Each injection was $3000. Unfortunately, the injections did not work. As of January 2016 she began a new injection, which she will receive every other month, that inhibits her body from producing the protein. However, the injection is $20,000 and is currently only partially covered by insurance. She will also be at risk for side effects including but not limited to: demyelization (symptoms associated with Multiple Sclerosis), liver failure, tuberculosis, and a limited immune system leaving her susceptible for infections.
