By signing up for the race you understand that we will do what ever we have to to have this race, onsite, or virtual. If the race is cancelled by things beyond our control there will be no refunds. Currently we are limiting to 250 people per event to comply with current regulations.07/15/2020. Please note this is a fluid situation and rule and guidelines change rapidly. Thank you for your understanding.

All monies raised will go to support local youth/ Boy Scout development activities

Only the 5K walk run permit dogs and strollers.

There will be no refunds for this race should events be cancelled beyond our control. Please read the Covid compliance document below.

2020 Bull Dam Trail Run Covid-19 Compliances

First and foremost, we have every intention of hosting the Bull Dam Trail Run, scheduled for September 6, 2020. It’s possible that there may be changes to how it is executed to meet new guidelines, but we will work around it. Please understand we are not going to have refunds if things get beyond our control.

That said, there are two reasons it could be canceled, changed significantly, or postponed that are out of our control:

1.)    If Erie County goes back to Red Phase restrictions. (the event goes virtual)

2.)    If there is thunder and lightning or other extreme, inclement weather

Note that we are subject to all restrictions put in place by the Pennsylvania State Government and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The North East Area Emergency Management Agency has asked us to limit our race entries to 250 participants per event and to follow state guidelines.

A link to phase restrictions for re-opening are found here: https://www.governor.pa.gov/process-to-reopen-pennsylvania/

Also note that we will not be about to have the post-race pancakes-and-sausage breakfast we have had in the past no matter what phase we are in. We are required to have a health department permit to serve food and we’ve been told that we will not be getting a permit from the Health Department this year. We are trying to come up with some post-race refreshments that will meet safety guidelines – perhaps local fruits and prepackaged snacks.

Here are some specific details on the Bull Dam Trail Run, which is made up of three events:

1.)    A 5K Trail Run/Walk

2.)    A 10 Trail Run

3.)    A 13.1 Mile Trail Run (two loops plus a little of the 10k course)

If on race day, we are in Green Phase:

1.)    We will have a timer on site.

                                                                       a.)      Start

1.       The start of all events will be a “Soft Start,” no horn or “gun” start

2.       The start will be video recorded.

3.       The bibs are Radio Frequency chipped and read at the start.

                                                                      b.)      Finish

1.       The finish will be video recorded.

2.       The Bibs will read the RF chips at the finish.

3.       Results will be calculated base on your start time and your finish times. The recorded chip times differential is the official time that the race will be scored on. The video is simply for back-up if the chip result doesn’t record.

2.)    All events will start in a time window

a.)      There will be a window of time to start all events at the same variable window of time.

1.       For example, you can start between the hours of 6:45 AM and 7:45 AM (these are not the official start times. These are just an example explaining the concept.) Your registration will determine your event. You will not be able to change your event the day of the race.

2.       All events will have the same window of time to start.

3.       Once you cross the start line, your event starts for you. There will be no horn blast or gun start.

b.)      Use of water stations and porta potties.

1.       The “Soft Start” is intended to spread out crowding at the water stations, the trails, and porta potties.

2.       This should enable you as a participant to socially distance yourself from other runners.

3.       The water stations will be manned for refill work only. The water station will be self-serve only. The folks at the water stations are to restock supplies, do minor clean-up, and to let the race officials know if there is a runner in need of assistance.

3.)    Course will be setup onsite.

a.)      There will be an official start line with RF sensors and video

b.)      There will be an official finish line with RF sensors and video

c.)      The 5k course is around the reservoir and will be unflagged for most of the course

d.)      The 10k & 13.1-mile course is in the woods and will be fully flagged with flags about 30-50 feet apart.

e.)      There will be check points this year to help us keep track of where runners are on the course. A volunteer will record your number every time you enter and exit the woods. In past years, we have had a sweeper run the course to verify the course was clear of runners; we don’t plan to do that this year.

If on race day, we are in Yellow Phase:

1.)    We will NOT have a timer on site – you will be required to enter your finish time online within 48 hours of the completion of the race.

2.)    Course will be setup onsite.

a.)      There will be an official start and finish line marked.

b.)      The 5k course is around the reservoir and will be unflagged for most of the course

c.)      The 10k & 13.1-mile course is in the woods and will be fully flagged with flags spaced about 30-50 feet apart.

d.)      There will be no check points and no one manning the check points.

e.)      There will be no water stations

3.)    You’re on your own to start and finish before 11 a.m.

a.)      There will be no official start window, which will allow for maximum social distancing.

b.)      The course will be set up until 11 AM on 09/06/2020; you must be finished by 11 a.m.

1.       Course tear-down will start at 11:30 AM as we are required by the North East Borough to have flags and caution tape removed within 48 hours. This takes a lot of manpower and time as we approximately 6,000 flags on the course as well as caution tape.

c.)      There will be no water stations.

1.       You will be required to bring your own hydration in a backpack or bottles.

4.)    There will be no volunteers on the course to assist injured runners, you will run the course at your own risk.

If on race day, we are in Red Phase:

1.)    We will have NOT a timer on site. This will be a virtual event.

                                                                                   a.)      Start

1.       The start will be marked. You are responsible for your own start and spacing.

2.       You will need to record your finish times.

3.       You will need to report your time via Google docs (a link will be provided)

                                                                                  b.)      Finish
