About the event
5K In Honor of Cantor Gould, all proceeds to benefit the Temple B'nai Shalom Music Program. Cantor Kenneth Gould joined the Temple B'nai Shalom Clergy team on July 1, 2008. He held positions with Cantor Andy Edison (in Roslyn, Long Island), Central Synagogue (in Manhattan) and had been the Cantor at Temple Judea (Massapequa) and Temple Beth Shalom (Flushing). He also served as the Hazzan Sheni at Temple Sholom (in Greenwich, CT).
Cantor Gould had a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Peabody Conservatory (Johns Hopkins University) and a Master of Music Degree from Stony Brook College (State University of New York). He had theatrical training from Lee Strasberg and the Circle in the Square Theatre School. He continued his studies in Europe at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, and spent time in Germany and Austria touring in acclaimed productions of Berlin to Broadway (Kurt Weill) and Oh, Coward! (Noel Coward). He received his semicha from the Academy for Jewish Religion in Riverdale, NY. While there, he premiered two new works by Cantor Charles Osborne: Souls on Fire and Kings and Fishermen at Lincoln Center in Manhattan. Cantor Gould passed away on August 31st, 2013 and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him well.
