Collectively, the Departments within the College of Health Sciences (CHS) invite you to participate in the CHS “Be Well” Virtual 5K & Walk event! This collaborative, interdisciplinary event, led by students from various Departments across the College and spearheaded by the Sports Medicine Department’s Athletic Training Club, will raise funds to support Cancer Research in Zimbabwe. This 5k is inspired by the family of Dr. Chiwoneso Tinago, a faculty member in the Department of Health at WCU, who lost her father, Brian Tinago, to cancer in February, 2021. Brian’s last text to Dr. Tinago read, “Thank you baby daughter all will be well!”. In line with the CHS tag line “Be Fit, Be Well, Be Restored”, our college is proud to come together to provide support and community in emphasizing all to be well. The CHS Be Well 5K will also provide funds to support Dr. Tinago’ family and mother, Gloria Tinago, with on-going, costly medical expenses incurred through Zimbabwe’s health system. You can read more about Dr. Tinago’s family and father’s journey here:
