About the event
A 5K/1 Mile powdered COLOR run to benefit the Journey of Hope Cancer Support Center.
2018 Craig Brake Memorial Colors 4 Cancer 5k and 1 mile run/walk is a color run which benefits the Journey of Hope Cancer Support Center in New Bern, NC. Journey of Hope helps patients and families cope with the emotional, physical, and psychological effects of cancer by offering programs such as one-on-one peer support groups, survivorship program, massage and art therapy, exercise, and other various programs. We are a comprehensive cancer resource center in Eastern North Carolina for people with cancer and their caregivers, to let them know they are not alone and we are here to support them in all aspects of this journey. We are a non for profit organization that supports 100% LOCAL people/families.
The race will start & finish at Creekside Elementary School where there will be plenty of parking, and the route will take you through the beautiful Carolina Colours residental neighborhood. Race activities start at 7:30 with announcements followed by a Zumba warmup, followed by the race start at 8 am. For more information on Journey of Hope, please visit www.cchcfoundation.org.
Fees
Registration fee for the 5K color run is $35 per participant.
Registration fee for the 1 mile walk is $25 per participant.
Prices will increase to $40 per 5K participant on Sept 1st on, and to $30 for 1 mile walk participants.
To make sure you get the correct tee shirt size, make sure you register by September 7th!
If you choose to participate in the untimed 5K, please note you will not be eligible for awards and will not receive a time for the event.
Registration the day of the event will be available, but tee shirts will be available on a first come first serve basis the day of the event. Registration and packet pick up the day of the event will begin at 6:30-7:30 am in Sept 22nd at Creekside Elementary.
Timing chips will be given the morning of the race at the registration tent. Please stop by to pick one up if you are doing the timed 5k. All timing chips must be returned after the race at the finish line. Thanks!
Awards
Awards will be given for overall top 3 finishers, and age group winners: 10 years and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+ by gender for the top 3 in each category. Awards will be given out at approx. 9 am.
Packet Pickup
Packet pickup will be held on Friday, September 21, from 4-7 PM at Coastal Sole, 2122 Trent Blvd, New Bern.
