Somerset County’s Corporal Eugene Cole was killed in the line of duty on April 25th, 2018. This 3rd annual race will honor Corporal Eugene Cole and his family. All profits will be given to the Maine Community Foundation towards a scholarship fund in Eugene Cole’s name. Corporal Cole’s badge number was 1312. Corporal Cole is remembered as a compassionate man, a musician, a husband, a dad, and so much more. He gave the ultimate sacrifice protecting our communities. Lace up your shoes and line the streets with blue to support the Corporal Cole Scholarship, the Cole Family, and all our Law Enforcement Officers.
2020 – COVID-19 – Announcement – Corporal Cole Memorial Run moves to Virtual Run
With respect to social distancing due to COVID-19 and state regulations we have determined it will not be possible to host the Corporal Cole Memorial Run at one location on one day. The mission of this race is to keep Corporal Coles memory alive and to continue to heal our community while providing scholarship opportunities through fundraising. Because this race is very important and has meaning to so many individuals we didn’t want to cancel it completely. You will be able to run the 2020 virtual Corporal Cole Memorial Run from August 16th – August 23rd anywhere, on any outdoor course, or inside on a treadmill! You can honor Corporal Cole by participating in this virtual run on any day between August 16th – August 23rd. During these times, especially, we believe in being flexible and kind, strong attributes of Corporal Cole. Due to the fact that runners will be competing on different days and different courses awards will not be distributed for fastest times. The following awards will be given out:
*Most Creative Virtual Team
*Largest Fundraising Individual
Anyone that signed up for the race prior to this virtual announcement will be given the option to withdraw from the race and receive a full refund, or transition their race registration to 2020, or continue with the virtual race. Please e-mail us at [email protected] to request a full refund. Shirts will be mailed to individuals that have already ordered them. Future shirt orders will not be accepted as our T-shirt sponsors need to focus their attention on “masking” the spread of COVID-19.
100% of the proceeds of this event will benefit the Eugene Cole Memorial Scholarship fund. Aaron Gordon of Norridgewock Maine was the first recipient of this scholarship.

We again encourage you to put one foot in front of the other during these uncertain times. Proceed with kindness and thoughtfulness towards others. It is not COVID that will define us, but how we respond and react during these times. We ask that you honor Corporal Cole with kind acts towards others and embrace a considerable quantity of compassion during this pandemic. Be healthy, train wise, and run proud #Runfor12.
