Come join us on the Lansing River Trail, Saturday, October 10th for Cristo Rey’s 8th Annual Run For Giving 5K Run/Walk. We will have a flexible start time from 9:00 to 10:00 am to allow for social distancing at the start of the race, along the course, and at the finish line. Our race will have chipped timing with live results.

We have a FULL stay safe race plan in place, see below for all the details.  

Early bird pricing starts at $25 and will last until August 31st, pricing will be $30 from September 1st to October 3rd, and $35 one week before the event. Register early to secure the early bird pricing!

Kids ages 18 and under run for only $5! This special pricing is sponsored by the Michigan Running Foundation to encourage families to run and be active together! Entry fee includes  a T-Shirt.

Run, walk or roll! This race is stroller and wheelchair accessible. 

Proceeds from this event will go towards empowering those in vulnerable situations in our community through our Food Access Programs, Personal Needs Program, Family Health Center, Counseling Center, and our Financial Empowerment Center.

 

STAY SAFE PLAN AND EVENT DETAILS 

Flexible start time: Start the race any time between 9:00 am and 10:00 am. There will be no crowded mass start. Begin your race when it is free of other participants. No more than 5 people will start at a time. Start when you are ready and at your own pace.


Packet Pickup/Check-in area:  We suggest that you take advantage of our packet pick up time at playmakers to help us avoid a crowd on race day. Packet pickup will be Friday, October 9th from 2-7 pm at Playmakers 2299 W Grand River Ave, Okemos, MI. We will also provide packet pick up the day of the race from 8:00 am to 10:00 am near the start/finish line at registration. The packet pickup/check-in area will be spaced out to allow for social distancing. 


T-shirts: T-shirts will be guaranteed to registrants who sign up by Sunday, October 4th. T-shirts distributed at packet pick up at playmakers or at packet pick up on race day.  


Masks: We ask that everyone wear a mask during packet pickup and we suggest that all participants wear a mask before and after the race. All staff and volunteers will be required to wear masks. Please maintain more than 6 feet distance from others while running if you are not wearing a mask. 


Results: Your accurate chip time and current overall and age group place will be live on this site.  Please remember your overall and age group place will not be final until the last person has crossed the finish line at approximately 1pm.


Awards: We will not have an awards ceremony. Medals will be awarded to the overall male and female and the 1st place winner in each age group (men and women). Overall male and female will receive an additional prize. Medals and prizes will be available for pick up at Playmakers up to two weeks after race day. Age Groups: 7 and under, 8-14, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.


Fluid Stations: We will provide bottled water at the finish of the race. There will be no water stations, so please bring your own water for the course.


Sanitation Stations: Hand sanitizer will be available at registration and hand washing stations will be available near the porta potties. 


Parking: Please feel free to park in the Potter Park parking lot. When you arrive to the parking booth, mention to the parking attendant that you are there for Cristo Rey and they will let you through without charge. Please park as close to the parking booth as you can. We are sharing the parking lot with Potter Park Zoo attendees.


Potter Park Zoo will be having their Fall Zootacular the same day as the race. Event attendees can enjoy the zoo while wearing a costume, purchase cider and donuts, and enjoy the beautiful fall colors. You can find out more information about the event and reserve your arrival time here.


Note: In the unlikely case that we would have to cancel this in person race because of extreme and unforeseen circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we would move all race entries to be virtual.

T-shirts: T-shirts guaranteed for registrants who sign up by Sunday, October 4th. T-shirts can be picked up at Playmakers during packet pick up Friday, October 9th from 2-7 pm or sent in the mail for $8. The $8 shipping applies to each registrant’s T Shirt, not household.


Prize Competitions (runners may enter both):


1. Coolest Course. Take a selfie from where you are walking/running and the “coolest course” winner will get a gift card! Others may be featured on social media. Submit your photo here!


2. Farthest Distance from Cristo Rey. Submit your location/picture of your course and the runner/walker who is the farthest away from Cristo Rey will win a gift card! Others may be featured on social media. Submit your location and photo here!
