Diabetes Destination Walk

We are asking that all participants wear blue for the walk. The Amerihealth Caritas Louisiana Community Wellness Center will host the “Diabetes Destination Walk” to kick off the Control Your Diabetes, Control Your Destiny program.  The Destination Walk will span 1.5 miles through the Queensboro neighborhood and is open to ACLA members and the Shreveport community. Every 21 seconds, a person in the United States is diagnosed with diabetes. Across Louisiana, more than 35 percent of adults are pre-diabetic and at an increased risk for serious health complications including kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, and stroke.  As a Healthy Louisiana plan serving more than 200,000 members, AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana is committed to providing our members and communities with tools and resources for healthy living. Our innovative Control Your Diabetes, Control Your Destiny program focuses on supporting a variety of challenges faced by diabetics, including the importance of a healthy diet, making time for exercise and routine health screenings.
