Roads close at 8 a.m., warm-up is at 8:15 a.m. and 5K begins at 8:30 a.m.
The 15th Annual 2021 Get Ready! Get Set! Get Fit! 5K Run–Walk and 1-Mile Walk to support older adult health and fitness will be held on the campus of CCBC Essex. This location is easily accessible to I-95 and I-695 and has plenty of parking. The event, which is perfect for novice and advanced runners alike, starts at 8 a.m. and all roads on campus will be closed at that time. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. with health and fitness screenings starting at 7:30 a.m. The 5K race, which is chip-timed and professionally managed by Charm City Run, attracts participants of all ages who run and walk the course. Medals are given for the fastest three male and female 5K finishers overall, as well as the top two male and female runners in all age categories, must be present to win. The 1-Mile Fun Walk is perfect for our youngest and oldest participants. In 2021, the race will include a virtual component as well.
Participants receive a complimentary long-sleeved performance T-shirt (guaranteed up to the first 500 registered, sizes not guaranteed), water on the course and post-race refreshments.

· Juniors (6 to 17 years): $20 (DISCOUNT WILL BE APPLIED AT CHECKOUT)
· Children (5 and under): Free (please still register, no shirt provided) (DISCOUNT WILL BE APPLIED AT CHECKOUT)

There are no refunds of entry given or transfers of entry permitted for this event.
We have created a virtual race option for those who would like to participate but are not local, or do not feel comfortable attending an in-person race at this time. Here’s how the virtual race works:
1. Register for the virtual event, and sign up for text or e-mail notifications
2. Your race shirt will be available for pickup at our Friday packet pickup. (All packets not picked up at Friday’s packet pickup will be mailed)
3. You’ll receive a text or email (if you opt in) when the race “starts” on September 19th.
4. Run your race and submit your results either by text message or email (if you’ve opted in) or by heading to the results page here by September 26th at 11:59 PM Eastern Time). Results update in real time as people submit their times. Be sure to take photos and share on the runsignup.com photo page when you report your results or by going directly to the photo page here.
*Virtual race performances are not eligible for the overall event awards, but we’ll certainly be acknowledging the winners in our post-race communication.

The event will be held rain or shine. There are no refunds if participants are unable to attend after registering.
Race course roads will close at 8 a.m. The 5K start will be in front of the Wellness and Athletics Center. The 1-mile start will be near Parking Lot 2. The majority of the route will be on the campus of CCBC Essex with a small part on King Avenue.
For safety reasons, the race course is closed to animals, bikes, skaters and baby joggers or strollers. Water will be provided on course and at the finish line.
All pre-registered runners will receive a long-sleeved performance T-shirt (sizes and availability not guaranteed for day-of-race registration), water on course, entry in door prize drawings (must be present to win) and post-race refreshments. To celebrate “National Falls Prevention Day”, “National Senior Center Month”, and “Active Aging Week,” free fall prevention, health and fitness screenings will be offered, as well as vendor tables and displays.

5K awards will be provided for the top three men and women overall, and top two men and women finishers in the following age groups: 15 and under, 16 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, 70 to 79, 80 to 89, and 90 and over.
Random door prizes awarded including one $150 and one $100 Fitness Pays gift cards, sponsored by Van Dyke and Bacon Shoes. Must be present to win.
Show Your Resilience! If you are a Baltimore County sole proprietor business which was closed during the pandemic, but has since reopened, celebrate in our Resilience Area! You will be provided a table and two chairs in return for your contribution of a door prize valued at $50. Tables are limited and BCDA reserves the right to reject door prizes. Build morale and form a team from your senior center, company, social club, family or friends. Being part of a team is fun! You’ll build camaraderie and community while raising much-needed funds for senior exercise classes and fitness centers in Baltimore County. We encourage you to wear T-shirts displaying your team, center, company name or logo on race day.

CCBC Essex is located off Baltimore Beltway (695) Exit 34 (Rosedale). At Exit 34, turn onto Maryland Route 7 (Philadelphia Road) heading towards White Marsh. Proceed one-quarter mile and turn left onto Rossville Boulevard. The campus is approximately one mile on the right adjacent to the Franklin Square Hospital Center. Turn onto College Drive North. Proceed and make right turn onto Division Lane.
