October is Spina Bifida Awareness month! Help us celebrate the lives of the 1,500 Wisconsin residents affected by the birth defect, Spina Bifida. Our walk promotes ability, positive self-image, pride, peer-support and includes a GLOWING GOOD TIME! Invite your school friends, work friends, family, neighbors and everyone you know to join us for this family friendly activity supporting Spina Bifida Wisconsin, sponsored by Oshkosh Defense.

Event date: Saturday, October 19, 2019 6:30pm to 8:00pm. The deadline is midnight on October 8th for online registrations. Registrations must be entered by this deadline to include our awesome GLOW IN THE DARK event shirt and glow item give-aways!

For “day-of” or “walk-in” registrations cost is $20.00 cash or check only with shirts (different from event shirts) and glow items included only while supplies last.

Park Rules and Route Info: No pets, no alcohol, no smoking, no vaping. The walk route distance is one mile on paved park path that is wheelchair/walker/stroller/scooter/wagon friendly and makes a rectangle. There are not port-a-potties along the one-mile route.

Event details: The walk will be illuminated with colorful lights and lanterns for the one mile route around the park. Wear your neon colors, glow accessories and LED light up accessories to have a glowing good time with family and friends. For those with a green bracelet, at different stations along the route, you will receive glow item give-aways like glowing sticks, necklaces, bracelets,  and MORE!  By the end of the walk we’ll all be decked out and Glowing Bright for Spina Bifida.  Before and after the walk, we will take group photos with our cool new photo backdrop, experience the black light glow area, enjoy refreshments and socialize. Outside there is a play structure and picnic tables. This event raises money to support the services provided by Spina Bifida Wisconsin (SBWIS). On behalf of our families, thank you for joining us!

Tips for completing online registration: This website is fantastic for managing events; but can be confusing for first time users. New users will be asked to create an account. One person in your family creates the account and can register all family members. Event participation options are different – they either exclude or include receiving the glow-item give aways. Red and green colored bracelets will be distributed at the event designating your choice, and glow-item give aways will only be given to people with green bracelets.

Click on “Event Info or Sign Up”, choose your event and add registrations for everyone in your family. Click the box to sign the waiver and continue. Choose your shirt size and continue. Next is the donation page and you will be given the option to “Become a Fundraiser”.

This event is a fundraiser for Spina Bifida Wisconsin to support our programs and services. SBWIS is a non-profit charitable organization helping over 150 Wisconsin families each year, including many in the Fox Valley region. When you become a fundraiser, you can customize your own promotional page by naming your fundraiser, setting a goal, creating a special link, and including a photo and personal message. This is a great way to raise awareness about Spina Bifida, SBWIS and our services.

Thank you for supporting SBWIS and Glowing Bright for Spina Bifida. We are excited to host this fun Spina Bifida Awareness event!
