Great Pumpkin Classic

Welcome to our 29th Annual Great Pumpkin Classic 5K Run, a 2 Mile Walk For Health & Kids Fun Runs. The run, walk & kids committees, sponsors and volunteers truly appreciate you being here with us. You will be helping to add to our proceeds which have totaled over $300,000 since our start in 1991.   Our charities include the Trumbull High School Scholarship Foundation, Trumbull Chamber of Commerce, Trumbull Community Women, and Trumbull PTSA.       CALENDAR UPDATE- EARLY PICKUP & LATE REG SATURDAY 10/19 at TRUMBULL HIGH CAFETERIA 12-3pm. Stop in, avoid race day rush, and pick up for others too!  Our events have been rated in the "Top 50 running events in New England" for many years. We have had the honor of hosting many famous runners on our 'rolling' course. They include 4 time NYC & Boston Marathon Champion Bill Rogers, USA Olympic Marathon qualifiers and European elites. Founded by a runner, Marty Schaivone, who taught Biology at Trumbull High for 35 years, we pride ourselves on high quality well designed T-shirts, terrific food, plenty of fluids & lots of fun. Our THS Mens & Womens Choir perform at the opening ceremony while many students & faculty run & volunteer.   Our 5k run distance is chip timed. You can walk this 3.11 mile distance if you choose & you will appear in the computer timed results. Our 2 mile Walk for Health is not timed and there will not be results published from this event. Awards are given to the male & female champions and also run three deep in these age groups: 9 & under, 10-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+ and even an elite 90+ division. In 2016 for the first time in our history we had both a man and woman at 90 years old who completed the 5k! We salute 90 years young Betty Holroyd, and 90 years young Herman Bershtein ! Betty’s grand daughter was the women’s champion as well that year!   Our food buffet includes food trucks, pizza, fruits, muffins and fluids.You will never leave hungry after the Great Pumpkin Classic.   The computer chip timed 5K and the untimed 2mi walk start TOGETHER in front of Trumbull High School on Strobel Rd. The Trumbull High men's and women's faculty also form Black and Gold teams for the 5k run   PLEASE PRE REG ONLINE to avoid race day stress and TO INSURE SHIRT SIZING & AVAILABILITY.  Shirts are ordered weeks in advance so sizing choices end on Oct 1, and after that it is "As Available". This race was founded & is produced by Marty Schaivone – M.S. Running Productions. MSRP helps to direct over 40 other events which last year raised over $250,000 for charities including Aquarion Barnum Festival 5K/10K in Bridgeport, Black Rock "Run for the Rock", MADD Dash in Stratford, Colony Grill Hot Oil 5K in Fairfield, Stratford Turkey Trot, Cow Chip Cross Country Run & Jingle Bell Run in Trumbull, and over 35 other events in Fairfield County.
