Half Note Half Marathon & 5K

About This Event:

This is a fundraiser event to support the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra (SMSO), located in St. Joseph, Michigan. The SMSO has been an integral part of the cultural fabric of the community since 1951. We strive to bring a wide variety of musical experiences to the region and help maintain a dynamic and vibrant community for all.

COVID

Due to the uncertainty of COVID and with every effort to offer a safe environment for participants, we will follow health department recommendations at the time of the event. These could include drive by packet pickup, use of masks when not running in race, rolling start times, electronic posting of results, limited awards ceremony, and cancellation of race day sign ups. We will update race information in early August with expected race day procedures.

NEW This Year - Participate Virtually!

Want to have a great race on your own schedule? Participate virtually! Pick your own 1/2 marathon or 5K route anytime between September 12th and October 3rd! It's a great way to enjoy the outdoors while supporting live music. Participants will be mailed a t-shirt and participation medal in October. Virtual participants do not qualify toward race day awards.

Course Description:

Experience the beauty of southwest Michigan's agricultural heart as you run past fragrant vineyards, hops fields, and rich farmland between Stevensville and Baroda, Michigan. The course starts and ends at the same place, looping around the countryside.

The half-marathon route is mainly flat, but there are some climbs along the way to add some challenge. The 5K route is a great way for both runners and walkers to get some endorphins in early and use that energy throughout the rest of the day!

Age Divisions and Awards: Overall Male and Overall FemaleAge Division Awards (Male and Female) - 14 and Under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 and Over.   Tee Shirts: Two shirt sizing options will be available - Women's Tee Shirt Fit and Unisex Tee Shirt Fit.An extra $2.00 will be added for the XXL sizes.Tee Shirts are guaranteed for all participants if registration is made before September 1, 2021.  After September 1st, tee shirts are available on "first come - first serve" basis.   Timing and Scoring: Timing and scoring will be done by Mac's Sports Timing using ChronoTrack technology.
