About the event

Take on the challenge of Ireland's most spectacular coastal half-marathon. The Half on the Head starts in the picturesque village of Ballyheigue, taking you around the rugged Kerryhead Peninsula of Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way. With views of the Shannon Estuary and Banna Strand, your scenic 13.2 mile journey then loops back to Tralee Bay to take in the foothills of Mount Brandon and the majestic Ballyheigue Castle. If 13.2 miles is a bit too much of a challenge, there's also a 10k offering similar incredible views.

Course highlights

The Half on the Head is one of Irelands most scenic runs. The Half Marathon takes you around the rugged coast of Kerryhead Peninsula, one of the most westerly points in Europe and a hidden gem of the Wild Atlantic Way . Starting in Ballyheigue village you will make your way along country roads and lanes by the Shannon Estuary. The route then loops back to Tralee Bay with stunning views of Mount Brandon and Banna Strand to its finish at the gates of historic Ballyheigue Castle. There is also a 10k run offering similar spectacular views.
