Hart Down Under 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run

Join us on Saturday, May 16, 2015 in the beautiful Riverside/Downtown Jacksonville area for the Hart Down Under 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run. This race is in its 1st year and is a fundraiser for Jacksonville high school senior Drew Hart as he heads on the trip of a lifetime this summer to Australia with Down Under Sports.

Drew will be participating in this international event to represent Florida on the East Conference Track and Field Team during the summer of 2015. Proceeds from this race will go towards the cost of competing Down Under. In addition to the race there are fabulous post-race activities for the whole family described in more detail below.

G’Day!

As an athlete I have been invited to participate in the Down Under Sports Tournaments hosted on the Gold Coast of Australia. I am honored to be an ambassador of not only my community and state, but also our country. I will be participating in this international event on the East Conference Track and Field Team during the summer of 2015. Proceeds from this race will go towards the cost of competing Down Under.

Chip Timing


The race will be chip timed using a shoe chip system.   Chips will be distributed at the packet pickup.   All runners must cross the mat at the finish line with their chip properly attached to their shoe to score in the race.  Chips must be returned at the conclusion of the race at the finish line.   Runners not returning chips will be charged a fee of $30.

90 minutes to 15 minutes prior to the start of the race – Packet, Bib, & Chip Pickup
90 minutes to 30 minutes prior to the start of the race – Day of Race Registration (Cash or Check Only)
20 minutes to 30 minutes after the last finisher – Awards Ceremony

6:30 PM – 5K Run Start
7:15 PM – 1 Mile Fun Run Start
8:00 PM – Awards Ceremony


Race Information


Race times and dates are subject to change without notice at any time for any reason. In the event the race time or date is changed or if the race is cancelled, for any reason, there will not be any refunds under any circumstances. In the event of bad weather every effort will be made to conduct the race, however it may be moved to an alernate date, time, or cancelled within hours of the starting time. Please be sure to check the PRS Race Timing website and Facebook page for updates prior to departing to the race for any last minute changes or instructions.


Benefitting


Proceeds from this race will go towards the fees and costs associated with Jacksonville high school athlete Drew Hart’s running adventure in Australia. The competition is intense and exciting with coaches and players engaging in this truly unique sporting event.

DAY OF RACE PACKET PICK UP

All packets that are not picked up prior to race day will be available for race day pickup starting at 5:00 PM. Participants not able to make packet pickup prior to the race may pick up their packets at the race during the times listed on the Event Schedule.

Early Registration – $25.00 – Through April 30th, 2015


Regular Registration – $30.00 – 05/01/2015 through 05/08/2015


Late Registration – $35.00 – 05/09/2015 through 05/14/2015 at 3:00pm


Online registration closes at 3:00pm on 05/14/2015.   Participants may register at the race or at packet pickup in person, cash or check only after that.

Runner Amenities


SHIRTS


All runners in the 5k run registered two weeks prior to the race are guaranteed to receive a cotton shirt of their requested size.  All runners registering within two weeks of the race will receive a shirt as supplies permit.

GOODIE BAGS
All participants will receive a goodie bag with giveaways and vendor/sponsor handouts.

MEDALS
All 1 Mile Fun Run Finishers will receive a race medal.

Grand Prize Awards, Masters, High School Team Awards and Age Group Awards presented as described below.


Race Course


The run starts and finishes at Unity Plaza in the beautiful Riverside/Downtown area. There will be water stations on the course and at the finish line.

GRAND PRIZE
Grand Prize Awards will be presented as follows:

Men – 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place
Women – 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place

MASTERS (Over 40)
Men – 1st Place
Women – 1st Place

AGE GROUPS – 10 YEAR INTERVALS
Age group awards will be presented to the top three men and the top three women in the following age groups:
0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 Plus

TEAMS
Awards will be given to the 1st Place Male, Female, and Coed Teams.   For Female and Male teams, the four fastest times from each team will count with the fastest combined times winning.   Coed teams will have the top two top male and top two female times combined for their team time with the fastest combined times winning.  There is no limit to the amount of people on each team.  Special prizes will be given to the team with the most participants.

Prizes and awards will be presented at the post-race awards celebration. Runners will only receive one award: Grand Prize, Masters, or an Age Group award. Placements for awards are based on gun time, not chip time unless otherwise noted. Team prizes are separate from individual awards.
