About the event
The Honolulu Rainbow EKIDEN is a spectacular and popluar course that starts at Kapiolani Park and runs up Diamond Head Road to a designated turning point and back. A team of 3 to 5 members individually run the same lap as a relay. One lap is 5km (about 3.1 miles). Each runner will carry a team "sash" and hand it over to the next team member waiting for his/her turn.
Come and enjoyed a truly unique running experience with your friends, family, classmates or co-workers.If you don't have a full team, don't worry! We also accept individual entries and assign you to a team. We welcome all skill levels from beginners to advanced runners!

The EKIDEN course starts at Kapiolani Park and continues alongside Diamond Head, offering a spectacular view of the ocean from the hill top turning point. Each Team has 5 runners (minimum 3) and each runner will take turns in completing the same course. Race supporters will await the runners at Kapiolani Park at the finisher area, where you can enjoy festivities such as the local food festival (WaikiKitchen) and the brand new Aloha Dance Convention.
