For most veterans, the war does not end when they return home. They are physically and psychologically changed. Combat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury are debilitating, on our veterans and their families.
Statistics estimate we lose 22 heroes per day to veteran suicide. That’s 22 senseless deaths, 22 devastating losses, 22 families destroyed.
June 3, 2017, after years of battling PTSD and TBI, SSG Daniel K Stein took his own life in the family garage, only feet away from his wife and daughter who were inside the home.
The Daniel K Stein Mission is dedicated to raising awareness of this crisis, to help diminish this statistic – “One Family at a Time.”
Please join us as we proudly remember and honor SSG Daniel K. Stein through our second annual 5K/10K.
This course starts at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge at 150 South Hanna Street in Lock Haven, then proceeds down Creek Road, and turns around for the 5K point. The 10K route continues down Creek Road, to the River Levee for a short distance, and then back that same route to end at the Moose. Following the race will be a Chicken Barbecue meal for purchase. This is a non-alcoholic family friendly event.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 males and females for both routes. There will be no age group prizes.
Proceeds from this year will go toward our SSG Daniel K Stein Memorial Scholarship fund; as well as a donation to Heroes & Horses, a non-profit organization located in Mackeyville – where veterans go to find peace through horse therapy – “Giving Hope One Veteran at a Time.”
