Independence Fall Foliage 5K /Downhill Mile

Location: Independence, VA

Cost:$20 for either race or run both for the same price!

Come join us for a fun filled day! We are excited to start our day with our downhill mile race before the 5K. The race is sure to produce some fast times as the whole course is slightly downhill with a 100 yd up hill finish! If you are really tough you can run both races for the same price! After the races enjoy the day in scenic Independence for our annual Fall Festival activities, including the very popular outhouse races.

Start times- 

7:00 - 8:00 -Registration and Packet pick-up  ( 5K Registration will continue until 8:15)

9:35-kids 1/2 mile fun run (free) no t-shirt

8:15- Downhill Mile Race

8:45- 5k Race

Awards to be presented for both races shortly after the conclusion of the 5K (no age group awards for downhill mile

Downhill mile awards- top 3 males/females get medals (no age group awards) anyone under 12 will get a participation award.

5k Age groups-Top male and female will get a trophy. We will award top two athletes in each age group with a medal.

Downhill Mile- The starting line will be on East Main St. just above the High School and finish on industrial park lane. The entire race is slightly downhill with the exception of the last 100 yds on industrial park lane which is uphill!

5K Race Course-The Race will begin in GCHS parking lot…left on East Main st......left onto Davis st behind the school....behind the football field...behind Food City......Rt. onto Rainbow Circle DR.loop back to Main.....left onto east main....quick rt to Grayson AVe.....left onto powerhouse rd.....Rt. onto Locust st....left onto state rt.....left onto North IND....left onto east main...rt into High School parking lot to finish
