About the event

Join us on Sunday, January 10, 2016 for a race event unlike any other in Maine!  Get out of the cold and head indoors, where there is no ice underfoot, no frigid gusts in your face, and no snow overhead.  Yes, you will be running in circles (25 times, in fact!).  And yes, you will have to jockey for position amidst other runners.  But you can enjoy the music, the comaraderie, and the running experience--all a part of Indoor Insanity.

Indoor Insanity 2016 is a fundraiser to prevent lung cancer through installation of radon mitigation systems in low-income Maine households.

To minimize injury and "traffic jams", runners can pick their preferred heat based on their average personal running speed.
Heat # 1 - for the fastest runners (15-20 minutes 5k)  Field will be limited to 30 runners.  First come, first served sign ups
Heat #2 - for the intermediate runners (20-27 minute 5k)  Field will be limited to 75 runners.  First come, first served sign ups
Heat #3 - for runners of any level willing to take on the chaos of Indoor Insanity.
Walkers are welcome (we will have a dedicated lane for walkers).
Kids Fun Run, too!
The race will be professionally chip-timed for accurate individual lap and finish times.
Register by Midnight December 26, 2015 for the t-shirts.  Prizes for top fundraisers.

Preventing Lung Cancer at Indoor Insanity

Exposure to radon causes lung cancer: it is the second leading cause of lung cancer nation-wide, and the number one cause of lung cancer in non-smokers. High levels of radon gas move up through Maine soil and water and into a home from the ground. 1/3 of the homes in Maine have high radon Learn more about radon.

Indoor Insanity registration fees and additional donations will be used to fix radon problems in low-income households in Maine.

You can help prevent lung cancer. Please consider making an extra donation when you register for Indoor Insanity, or even better--set up a fundraising page so that your family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues can join you in preventing lung cancer right here in Maine. Making a donation is easy and can be done as part of the check-out process*. And, any individual raising a minimum of $50 through a direct additional donation or through set-up of a fundraising page will receive a long-sleeve performance T.
*Any on-line donation will be assessed a 6% processing fee that supports the RunSignUp web portal. If you do not wish to pay the processing fee, or simply want 100% of your donation to go to the radon mitigation fund, you may make a cash or check donation at the event or in advance to: Maine Indoor Air Quality Council, PO Box 2438, Augusta, Maine 04338. Please note on the subject line: Indoor Insanity 2015 Donation.
