International Marathon Zanzibar North-East Coast

The third edition of the Int'l Zanzibar Marathon North-East Coast, which was set to start in the Kiwengwa Beach Resort, has been canceled. Situated on the finest white coral sand beaches of North East Unguja near the village of Kiwengwa, the marathon was planned to run along paved roads through little villages until reaching KM 29 and then follow some of the most beautiful beaches of Zanzibar. In 2018, the marathon supported the "World Clean Up Day" initiative by cleaning plastics from the beach while educating kids. The 2019 edition supported a local archeological project, preserving the Kuza Cave near Jambiani, coupled with a culture initiative and a strong educational background in geosciences. This year's charity project was to ship computers with Ubuntu operation system and educational software to the schools in Bwejuu, Jambiani and Makunduchi. Due to the current tendency of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), participants from China (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao), Singapore, South Korea or the regions of Lombardy and Veneto in Italy, as well as international participants who were still in these regions in September 2020, will not be admitted to start the marathon. If the situation changes, we will inform all potential participants.
