About the event
The Island City Mile was established to help fundraise for the Lakeland Union High School Cross Country and Track & Field programs. Proceeds from this year's event will help subsidize WIAA State Championship rings for the 2016 LUHS Boys Cross Country Team. The 2016 team won the 3rd WIAA State Championship in any sport in LUHS history. In addition, they continued two winning streaks: the school's 8th consecutive Great Northern Conference Championship and 3rd consecutive WIAA Sectional Championship in cross country.
The Island City Mile will take place on the Lakeland Union High School track. The event will be 1 mile, not 1600 meters. The track is all-weather and 1/4" spikes are permitted. FAT timing will be provided using FinishLynx and Hy-Tek hardware and software.
The Island City Mile will feature races by division and gender:
Open—Anyone is eligible for this division
Middle School—Students who have just completed grades 6 thru 8
High School—Students who have just completed grades 9 thru 12
Masters—Athletes aged 35 and older
An award will be given by gender to the winner of each division
Online registration ONLY. Registration closes at 11:59 PM on July 2, 2019.
Island City Mile t-shirts are guaranteed to the first 50 registrants. Participants must be registered by June 23, 2019 to be guaranteed their size.
