Several people have reached out to our family wondering if we are still having a 5k race. First of all, our family would like to extend our sympathy to all of those affected by COVID19. Those that have been affected physically, mentally or financially are struggling in a way that the majority of us have not ever had to deal with. Yes, we lost our son very suddenly, but we were fortunate to have a community that surrounded us immediately with comfort and encouragement. Today there are restrictions in place that don’t allow us to provide that person to person comfort and I encourage everyone to reach out to others that are struggling in a manner that is safe for all.
We have been mindful of all the small businesses that have supported our race over the years. We do not feel comfortable asking for sponsorship from these businesses during this time of financial struggle. We are also mindful of all of you who have registered or donated for past races and do not wish to ask anyone that is financially suffering from this crisis to support our race. However, we have been contacted by several who would like the race to continue virtually and receive a shirt. We carefully weighed the options and feel like this would be a way to continue the race without needing sponsorship from local businesses and no costs to the fund other than the t-shirts. See below to see how a virtual race will work.

This is our 4th annual Jog For Joey 5k Run/Walk. Joey Gardner was a 2016 graduate of EPGHS who passed away suddenly in 2017 from ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia). Joey had an impact on the community before his passing through his humble, kind spirit and love for all those he encountered. All funds raised from this race supports The Impact Award given to deserving senior students in recognition of a trustworthy, kind and humble spirit demonstrated by passionate effort and respectful behavior toward staff and students. Students are not able to apply for this award. The potential recipients are nominated by select members of the EPGHS staff. Last year we were able to give 2 students each a $3000.00 award.T-Shirts are guaranteed if registered by Sunday, May 17th.
