Kicking Butt 5k - Louisville

We are going to kick cancers butt virtually this year!

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic We have switched our race from an in person event to a virtual run walk event. This allows you to run or walk your 5K on your own time schedule any time between now and August 23rd to support this great cause.

We will host a local packet pick up for those living in metro Louisville in late August. The date time and location of the packet pick up will be announced. For those wishing to have their packet mailed to them there is a $10 shipping and handling fee that will be charged.

This annual event brings together survivors, fighters, advocates, healthcare providers and community partners to eliminate preventable colon cancer death and suffering.

About the Project

The Colon Cancer Prevention Project started in 2004, when only 1 in 3 Kentuckians were getting life-saving colon cancer screenings. Now, about 2 in 3 Kentuckians are getting screened, and the incidence rate is down more than 25%. Kentucky is now nationally renowned for its work, which includes a state-wide screening program for low-income, uninsured people.  The American Cancer Society estimates the diagnosis of 97,220 new cases of colon cancer and 43,030 new cases of rectal cancer in 2018.  Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women in the United States and the second leading cause in men. An expected 50,630 will die of colorectal cancer during 2018. (American Cancer Society)
