The 14th Annual Lake Placid Marathon & Half is a premier early season race hosted in the historic Olympic Village of Lake Placid, New York USA home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games surrounded by the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. Registration/bib pickup is at the Lake Placid Conference Center on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 1-6pm.  The race is Sunday, June 9, 2019 starting at 8am.

We are proud to announce the certification of the Lake Placid Marathon course and are a BQ race. Certificate #NY17059JG.

Each year the event attracts up to 2,000 athletes from over 40 U.S States, Canada and abroad.

The Half Marathon is a single loop out and back while the Marathon is a double out and back . Both races begin on Main Street in the charming Village of Lake Placid and end on the 400 meter outdoor speed skating oval track where U.S Speed Skater Eric Heiden won an unprecedented five gold medals in 1980.

We will once again offer a free Kids Dash on Saturday, June 8 prior to Marathon Day.  Registration will start at 1 p.m. and the race will kick off at 2 p .m. on the Olympic Oval, kids of all ages are invited to show off their speed and fitness on courses of varying lengths.

The Marathon/Half course is a combination of flat, rolling and some hills and runners enjoy mountain views, open areas, shaded areas, a class III trout stream and beautiful Mirror Lake along the way.

Twelve (12) well stocked aid stations are available for the Half Marathon; 26 for the Marathon. The event offers a generous six (6) hour course limit for each race.

Athlete food at the Race Finish along with a quality finisher medal and a 2019 race T-shirt are among the benefits of the race. Please note:  We reserve the right to change the racer gift and will inform you of any changes/options well ahead of race day.

The Lake Placid Marathon & Half was ranked the #2 “Best Destination” Race in the USA by a Runner’s World Magazine reader survey (source; Jan. 2010 issue).

We are walker-friendly and a great venue for a team or group destination event.

Age restrictions:  The marathon is limited to those 18 yrs and older on race day.

The half marathon is open to all ages but must have a parent's signature IN PERSON at registration in order for a child to compete.

The entry fees include a charity component which allows us to make a donation to two local charities.
