LHS IBmed-share Run For Relief

Come out for a beautiful 5K / 10K in an outstanding State Park minutes from downtown Tampa and USF.  All proceeds will  go to  Refugee Support  organizations. This race will be an excellent TRAIL Running experience.This is a great off-road running experience. The beautiful course terrain has a little of everything from grass / soft terrain trails and wetlands trail through multiple ecosystems under towering cypress domes.  Something for every runner to enjoy.  

The World Health Organization estimates that more than 10 million children under the age of five die in the developing world due to inadequate medical care.  LHS imbed-share students  help  improve that outcome by collecting medical and family health surplus and providing it to Florida International  charities  which  ship the donations overseas to qualified healthcare facilities in the developing world.

LHS  service learning and ibmed-share students first responded to Hurricane Mitch-in 1998 by collecting surplus medical  and first aid equipment and  helping  ship it to Honduras.  Since then, LHS students have been  raising funds and volunteering  every week to  prepare  family disaster relief and first aid kits along with  providing medical surplus overseas for distribution.

https://cardiostart.org/ Based in Tampa Bay since 1987, CardioStart  provides free heart surgery and medical services to children and adults in developing countries.  In December, 2015, CardioStart traveled to Nepal to provide medical and healthcare services to earthquake-torn regions and  brought with them 50 First Aid kits, assembled and donated by Lecanto High School’s ibmed-share student club. Since 2007  LHS  service learning club students have provided Cardiostart  with inventoried medical surplus and helped load  some of the  60+  CS cargo containers filled with medical surplus.

https://www.projectcure.org/ Project C.U.R.E. is one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the world that delivers medical supplies and equipment to developing countries. LHS imbed-share students have  teamed up with Project C.U.R.E. since 2007, collecting, sorting, and packing local medical surplus and donating directly to  C.U.R.E.

 https://projectmedishare.org/ Project Medishare began at University of Miami and has been working in Haiti for 25 years.  LHS service learning students help collect, pack, inventory and bring to  Project Medishare  in Miami medical donations including wound and pediatric care  medical surplus in response to the  2010 Haitian  earthquake.

 https://www.ayudahumanitariavenezuela.org/  LHS service learning students have been responding to the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela by donating first aid,  family health, and local medical surplus to Ayuda Humanitaria Para Venezuela. Ayuda ships every week from Florida to Venezueala,  and uses it’s partnerships with non-profits inside the country to distribute  donations to health care sites in desperate need.
