OPAP Limassol Marathon

Amazing race, well organized, great route with mostly flat surface

If you want a fast, flat track and sunshine while you're loading carbs, choose Limassol. This marathon has got some potential. Although at the moment (I ran this race in 2018) they don't have the most appealing course, they sure have the potential to become a 4-5 star marathon. The reason why? It's extremely well organized and the organization really wants this marathon to grow and become a competitive international marathon. And with a dedication you don't see that often ( even not at the larger well known marathons) I'm sure they will bring this marathon to the top. The start/finish location is amazing, next to the sea. You're running a boulevard, surrounded by palm trees, so no doubt about that tropical feeling. The course is straight, almost no turns. So ideal when it comes to perfect conditions. Although it can be warm and breezy on the Island. After 10k to the left you just turn around and go for 20k the other way. The last kilometers in that direction you find yourself some light hills. Nothing to worry about, especially when they give you some splendid views on the sea. After you turn around again, it will be approximately 11k straight to that marvelous finish line. Everything around the marathon is well organized, so nothing to worry about. And a great finisher festival I haven't seen many times before. Even after 56 marathons. I believe that when the town of Limassol develops and the organization will add some changes to the course this could really become a 4-5 star marathon. There's a beautiful path next to the sea that is just made for runners. It's probably too small (and not flat enough) to run parts of it during the marathon. If you're looking for a sunny marathon on a historical Island, this is your pick in March.

I loved this race in that it wasn’t too crowded and there were lots of activities around the event. Running along the Mediterranean Sea was also a booster

Great route...across the sea...i run there 3 years in row...well organised ...flat route with the best number of participants...ran 10 km...next year try for half marathon...

It is a wonderful experience and always would love to participate in the marathon here. The scenery, too amazing. Good organisation, friendly people. A good place to stay. I just love

Very well organized!! Had tons of fun! People from all over the world making it probably one of the most international marathons of Cyprus! Will be doing it every year!

I had a great friendly battle with a British runner. He overtook me in the first hour...then I caught up with him, and overtook him...then he caught up with me and overtook me..it was like this during the last 10 kms. On crossing the line one meter in front of me, he said "Well done,..I thought you would beat me to the finish !!"

great event as a complete weekend with pre and after party, side runs as corporate run etc... also the finish area is cool and the city of Limassol is amazing. It is a pitty that not more than 600 runners started the full marathon race.

By running, I can find my existence. It’s feel great to perform such an event like Marathon. Now , I prefer to participate more event. Love Marathon Love life Love yourself!!
